A taste of Oxford

We were in Oxford at about 10am and went straight to the bus station to book our open top bus tour of the city. We have found that this is a really good way of seeing places. It gives you a good overview with the option of going back on yourselves to explore in more detail the places that interest you the most. Christine decided that the first place she wanted to visit were the Botanical Gardens where she planned to have the picnic lunch ( Oxford prices are for the foreign tourists) we had prepared for ourselves before leaving.

It was a good but very hot and tiring day and we were glad to get back to the boat. We are moving on tomorrow up the Thames/Isis ( something I have learnt, is that the Latin word for the Thames is Thamesis and therefore the river Thames became abbreviated to Isis in the Oxford area) towards Lechlade. We will take the boat down to near the Isis Lock, do a bit of shopping and then get underway.
