Lechlade for the day

We decided to spend the day in Lechlade and have a good look around with a walk up to The Old Roundhouse (Toll House)at the junction with the old Thames and Severn  canal which is un-navigable at the present time but there are hopes that the Cotswold Canal Trust will get it restored and working in the future, so we will start our return down the upper Thames  tomorrow. We then plan to go on down the Thames from Oxford to the river Wey and the Basingstoke canal as the last time we were on the Thames we didn't manage to see them and they are meant to be well worth the effort.

The Halfpenny Bridge at Lechlade so called as that was the Toll taken to cross
